"Aaron R. Sandubrae Shihan is my Grandson and chosen successor to lead the Sandubrae Lineage of Isshinryu and American Okinawan Karate Academy" - Arnold R. Sandubrae Hanshi
Master Sandubrae began his Isshinryu Karate training in 1973, under the instruction of Grand Master Robert L. White and Grand Master Sam Santilli, students of Grand Master Willie Adams. A couple years later, he transferred to train directly under Grand Master Willie Adams because Master Adams' Dojo was located only blocks from Master Sandubrae's office. From 1973 until 1986 he amassed over 200 trophies in all categories: Kata, Kumite, Weapons, and Breaking.
Master Sandubrae had his own Karate School since 1978. That is when he retired from the business world, and moved to Palm Springs, California. At that time, with the approval of Master Adams, Master Sandubrae went under the leadership of Grand Master Harold Long, Ju Dan/ Hanshi-Sei. Master Sandubrae remained his student until Master Long's death in 1998. In June of 2002, Master Sandubrae went under the direction of an old time friend and Master Instructor Joel Chandler, Ku Dan, and remained his student until Master Chandler's death in 2012.
For over 20 years, Master Sandubrae donated all proceeds directly to the American Heart Association, an organization he was a Board Member of for over 20 years. He appeared on many National Television shows and Radio programs furthering the art of Isshinryu Karate. For 28 years Master Sandubrae was a Board Member of the prestigious Isshinryu Hall of Fame, and was also a Board Member of the International Isshin-Ryu Karate Association (IIKA). He was also a board member of the Tatsuo-Kan Society. Most recently he co-founded the Isshinryu Sandubrae Goshin Jutsu Kai, a private association dedicated to preserving traditional Isshinryu Karate and self-defense techniques as handed down to him by the ones who came before him.
Master Sandubrae traveled to many places throughout the world, furthering the art of Isshinryu Karate by both attending and putting on training seminars in other countries. Master Sandubrae was the artist of the Bronze bust presented to the Isshinryu Hall of Fame of Soke Tatsuo Shimabuku, and is the Writer and Producer of the Isshin-Ryu Song. He was also the Author and Publisher of the "Karate Passport" as well as the Designer of the Stylized Isshinryu Fist and Obi. Both Service and Trademarks are owned Solely by Master Aaron R.
